Today I had learned What is Public Speaking is, including the parts of speech, how to begin your speech and how to end it. In our Oral Communication subject, we need to perform two (2) speeches for our finals. The speeches namely: Extemporaneous Speaking and Oration.
Public Speaking - involves a single speaker delivering an uninterrupted speech to a sizable audience.
What do you mean by Extemporaneous Speaking?
- Extemporaneous Speaking - is speaking without any notes. Is like on the spot answering questions in the public that came from your own understanding. Similar to impromptu.
How about Oration?
- Oration - is a speech memorize by the speaker.
What are the Parts of Speech?
- Introduction - it is opening of your speech.
- Body - the message of the speech.
- Conclusion - it is refers to the end point of your speech.
How to Begin your Speech?
- Refer to the subject
- Refer to the occasion
- Extend a personal greeting
- Ask a rhetorical question
- Use an appropriate qoutation
- Relate a humorous anecdote
- Make a startling statement of fact or opinion
How to End your Speech?
- Summarizes major point
- Issue a challenge or an appeal
- Use an appropriate qoutation
- end with a rhetorical question
